The role of art in changing the world

This was what I was referring to when I reacted against some bishops’ over-reaction to the what they call “blasphemous” CCP exhibit. Art is a representation of reality, sometimes exaggerated in order to bring home the message. And I thought the message in the exhibit was, ‘how often do we violate real people in real life?’ since we Christians believe God is in people (whoever does this against my littlest ones does it to me, remember?). How could we turn away from real life violence to people but outraged over a non-living exhibit? Do we find the exhibit mirroring our own violence to others, triggering a subconscious level of self loathing directed against another? These bishops think these are the Dark Ages still!
