On Comelec’s overpriced rest house’ furnitures and fixtures

Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman Sixto Brillantes confirmed yesterday that the beds procured for the agency’s rest house in Baguio City cost P91,250 each but these were not overpriced.

“I think it’s not overpriced. It’s just that it’s expensive. Based on my standards, it is luxurious. What are we going to do with a P91,000 bed?” Brillantes said in an interview.

Shocker news (Sheila Crisostomo. Philippine Star. 18 Aug 2012). I had to blink quite a few times because I thought I was seeing double.

PhP91,000 bed? PhP695,000 curtain per? PhP340,000 blinds per? Expensive but not overpriced? Are we financing a castle or something?

Not a legal issue but a moral one?

Convince the payers (citizens) these.
