Ocean Cleanup Array: how crowd funding can be a positive disruptive force

19-year-old Boyan Slat’s proposed Ocean Cleanup Array, which the designer believes could potentially remove 7,250,000 tons of plastic from the world’s oceans. Slat has turned to crowd-funding website Indiegogo seeking to raise $80,000 for a feasibility study. The update, on Indiegogo’s website is, the campaign has raised USD 89,518, which is more than its original goal, and the study is expected to come out in October this year.
