England has its Thames. France has its Seine. Italy has its Venice. Russia has its Moscow River which is being planned to provide water transport (see images below). The US has its Mississipi River. And Philippines has its Pasig River. A columnist in one of the national dailies has suggested the development of Pasig River for water transport, to ease land traffic. This according to him is not the first time the River is used as such. I go with the recommendation; that the Metro should seriously look into it. China provides a model for infrastructure development in Asia, now–its government is really putting its resources where its mouth is and fast. I think that this is because China’s time is now and the opportunity to be among the top may not come again hence its decision to fast-track infrastructure development.
